As part of the ISAS 2023 international symposium, held from September 18-20, 2023 at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Impact of animal production on the environment”. Panel participants, including Dr. Ljiljana Samolovac as a representative of the Institute and CLIAVE project, tried to answer some of the so-called “hot topic” questions regarding animal husbandry and the environment, such as: what is the actual impact of animal husbandry on the environment with reference to Serbia? What impacts of livestock production on the environment stand out as the most important? What is the connection between climate change and livestock production? The importance of the presence of cattle on the preservation of natural habitats, the vitality of the existing vegetation and more? What do farmers think about climate change? What should we do? Through the direct discussion of panelists – eminent experts from Agricultural, Technological, Natural and Mathematical and other faculties, Institutes, meat industries and food producers from the point of view of the profession, the current situation with potential scenarios in the future was presented to the media and the general public.
