The main task of the Department of biomedicine, technology and food safety research and development is the study of biomedical and technological problems of animal production and breeding of domestic animals.

The department provides scientific and technological information on the quality and properties of animal products that are the result of nutrition, genetic traits and other physiological, pre-mortem and post-mortem factors.

Among other things, the Department deals with: examination of various pharmaceutical formulations in the treatment of diseases, prevention of disease occurrence or improvement of the quality of life of farmed domestic and wild animals, clinical trials on animals in accordance with existing legal regulations, examination of the microbiome of animals and plants and the application of microorganisms in practice, possibilities for systematic monitoring of bio-residues (mycotoxins, sulfonamides, antibiotics) and pathogens in animal products, determining and monitoring the content of heavy metals in animal products, introducing and developing new technologies in the production and processing of animal products, developing and applying new technical solutions and patents in production and processing of animal products, using enzymes in the technology of production and processing of animal products, using starter cultures in the technology of production and processing of animal products, testing the chemical, physical, technological and organoleptic properties of animal products, testing the physical and chemical parameters of the quality of animal feed, monitoring of bio-residues (mycotoxins, sulfonamides, antibiotics) and pathogens in feed, determining and monitoring the content of heavy metals in feed, biomedical analyzes of blood and other material, including biochemical, immunochemical, hematological blood analyses, chemical examination of urine, microbiological analyzes of clinical material of domestic animals, as well as breeding advisory services animal.
