Department of plant sciences and ecology
research and development
The Department of plant sciences and ecology research and development is focused on research into the development of innovative technologies and their transfer in the production of arable and fodder plants (field plants), sown and natural grasslands, with the aim of achieving high and stable yields, excellent nutritional quality and health safety, as well as their conservation/preservation while respecting the basic principles of sustainability and environmental protection.
Research is related to the selection of the genotype of field plants, the study of the impact of agro-technical measures, especially in stress conditions, on the improvement of the yield of field plants and grasslands, animal feed conservation/preservation procedures and quality analysis, the development of sustainable agricultural production (biological, ecological, organic), the study and evaluation of pastures in order to develop ecologically efficient systems of livestock production based on the management of agricultural renewable resources in terms of biodiversity, biological and genetic diversity of populations of phyto-pathogenic and potentially toxigenic species of fungi, detection of secondary metabolites of fungi (mycotoxins) with the aim of finding and proposing measures to reduce the presence of mycotoxins in the food chain and climate change in the agro-ecosystem.
