Instructions for authors
Manuscript submission
By submitting a manuscript authors warrant that their contribution to the Journal is their original work, that it has not been published before, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work was carried out.
Authors are exclusively responsible for the contents of their submissions, the validity of the experimental results and must make sure that they have permission from all involved parties to make the data public.
Authors wishing to include figures or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright holder(s) and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Authors must make sure that all only contributors who have significantly contributed to the submission are listed as authors and, conversely, that all contributors who have significantly contributed to the submission are listed as authors.
The journal Biotechnology in Animal Husbandry publishes manuscripts in the categories of:
Original scientific paper – a paper containing previously unpublished results of own research;
Review paper – a paper containing an original, detailed and critical presentation of a research topic in which the author has made a certain scientific contribution that is visible on the basis of self-citations (at least 5);
Short communication – an original scientific paper in full format, but of a smaller scope or preliminary character.
The manuscript should be prepared according to the Instruction for authors using the Article Template and submitted following the link https://istocar.bg.ac.rs/en/journal-biotechnology-in-animal-husbandry/#, or sent to the e-mail address biotechnology.izsvgmail.com.
Manuscripts are be pre-evaluated at the Editorial Office in order to check whether they meet the basic publishing requirements and quality standards. They are also screened for plagiarism.
Authors will be notified by email upon receiving their submission. Only those contributions which conform to the following instructions can be accepted for peer-review. Otherwise, the manuscripts shall be returned to the authors with observations, comments and annotations.
Manuscript preparation
Authors must follow the instructions for authors strictly, failing which the manuscripts would be rejected without review.
The journal publishes papers in English. Please check the paper you submit for publication in regard to the English grammar and spelling. British and American English are equally acceptable.
Names in Latin should be written in italics.
Use standardized abbreviations and SI units.
The manuscript should contain: title, full names of authors, ORCID of authors, affiliations of authors, Abstract, Keywords, manuscript text (Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion), Acknowledgment, Conflict of interest, References.
Tables and figures should be incorporated into the text of the manuscript.
The manuscript should be prepared in Microsoft Word for Windows, Paper size: Custom size, Width 17 cm, Height 24 cm; format (Portrait), normal spacing (Single Space). Margins: Top 2.0 cm, 2.0 cm Left, Bottom 2.0 cm, 2.0 cm Right, no pagination (see Article Template https://istocar.bg.ac.rs/en/journal-biotechnology-in-animal-husbandry/
Use font Times New Roman, size 11 (except where it is stated otherwise), single space, justify
Title – Times New Roman, font size 14, bold, capital letters, justify
Authors – Times New Roman, font size 12, bold, specify the full names and ORCID of all authors on the paper. Use 1, 2, … numbers in suffix to refer to addresses of authors, only in the case of different affiliations (institution)
Affiliations of authors – Times New Roman, font size 9, normal, under affiliations of authors should be mentioned e-mail of corresponding author and after that category of paper.
Title of paragraphs should be in Times New Roman 14 bold, except for Abstract and Key words where font size is 11 bold
Abstract: up to 250 words, Times New Roman, font size 11, justify. Abstract should contain a brief overview of the methods and the most important results of the work without giving reference.
Key words: not more than 6. The selection carried out by relying on widely accepted international source such as a list of keywords Web of Science.
Introduction – present the review of previous research and objective of the paper
Materials and Methods – includes experimental animals, experimental design, laboratory methods, statistical analyses. Provide an ethical statement on animal welfare if applicable.
Results and Discussion – present investigation results separately from discussion or together as one chapter or separately. Presentation of the results should be precise and without repetitions, and include the evaluation of significant differences and other parameters.
Text and titles of tables, figures and graphs, Times New Roman, font size 9, bold.
Tables and figures should be numbered and with adequate title and legend. Tables should be prepared according to instruction for forming of tables in Office Word. Each column in table must have heading and, when necessary, abbreviations should be explained in the legend/footnote.
Conclusion – contains a general conclusion based on the research results in relation to the set objectives of the study.
Title – in Serbian language, Times New Roman 14 bold, is stated, followed by authors in Times New Roman 11 italic.
Summary – in Serbian language, 250 max words
Key words – in Serbian language, not more 6
Note: non-Serbian authors should provide Summary in English language that will be translated to Serbian by Editor’s office
Acknowledgment – contains the source of funding, the code of the project within which the research was conducted, as well as the institutions or persons who contributed to the research and are not listed as authors.
Conflict of interest – contains reported conflicts of interest or, in the event that they are not reported, contains a statement: ‘The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest″.
References – should be in alphabetical order. Titles in the language of the original. Use only the full name of the cited journal.
