Representatives of the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Miloš Marinković and Violeta Mandić, participated in a project meeting held within the SMART STEP project – Climate-Smart Steps in Grassland Management and Improvement. The meeting took place from 24 to 26 June 2026 at the AREC Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research Centre in Austria.
During the three-day professional programme, participants were introduced to the work of the host institution, the results of the SatGrass project related to satellite-based monitoring of grasslands, as well as methods for field data collection in grassland ecosystems.
Special attention was given to biodiversity research, the restoration of degraded grasslands, the conservation of plant genetic resources, and the study of the impacts of climate change on grasslands within the DryGrass experiment. The programme also included a botanical excursion to high-mountain grasslands, an introduction to long-term grassland trials in Admont, which have been conducted for eight decades, as well as insights into the management of alpine pastures and mountain grassland communities.
