Department of cattle breeding
research and development
The work of the Department of cattle breeding research and development is directed towards the study and transfer of new technologies in:
- experimental production in conditions of climate change,
- program of biologically valuable food,
- design and digitization of production,
- sustainable animal husbandry and
- environment protection.
The research of the Department of cattle breeding research and development is focused on:
- improvement of milk and meat production,
- application of new biotechnological methods in cattle reproduction,
- application of electrophoresis and protein polymorphism,
- research in terms of technological solutions for the housing, care and exploitation of cattle,
- examination of phenotypic and genetic parameters of milk yield and fattening characteristics of cattle and creation of optimal models of crossing and breeding,
- development and creation of new methods and technological procedures in the production of meat and milk, and
- research of new technological processes and their introduction into the biologically valuable food production program.
Following new trends in cattle breeding and animal husbandry, the Department of cattle breeding research and development also deals with examining the possibilities of adapting milk and beef production to new climate conditions (rising temperatures, frequent occurrence of storms and natural disasters), digitalization of agriculture (using software, applications and drones), precision agriculture, for the purpose of obtaining of biologically valuable and healthy food for widespread use within the framework of sustainable animal husbandry and at the same time protecting the environment.
