Department of Poultry
Research and Development
The main goal of the Department of Poultry Research and Development is:
- to keep up with and make a concrete scientific contribution to the latest research and technologies in the production of poultry meat and eggs (the most intensive and promising area of food production of animal origin in the world),
- to ensure continuity in research and development of this field at the Institute by training young scientific workers (a tradition of continuous research work in poultry breeding for over 60 years) and
- to provide the clients with scientific opinion, advice or problem solving based on the knowledge and experience of researchers, biological trials on our experimental farms, analyzes in our laboratories for chemistry and microbiology, meat and egg quality, as well as software tools for biological modeling and optimization.
The current research focus of the Department is:
- selection and preservation of the poultry gene pool in Serbia; poultry nutrition,
- improvement of production and processing technologies of poultry products, and
- ecological, economic and ethical aspects of production and consumption of poultry products.
Services offered by the Department:
- Investigations and testing through biological experiments (new hybrids of poultry, feed, food, food additives, production processes, equipment…);
- Creation of new and innovative poultry production technologies;
- Analysis and optimization of existing poultry production technologies;
- Laboratory analysis and evaluation of the quality of feeds, feed, poultry products;
- Consulting, advisory and training services.
